Jhadeswar the Spiritual Landmark of Jharsuguda

The abode of Baba Jhadeswar the presiding deity of Jharsuguda the Jhadeswar Mandir ( Temple) is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Temple is located on the outskirts of Purunabasti a flourishing village covered by small forest. Temple is famous for its natural beauty, annual SHIVARATRI AND BOL BOM (KANWAR YATRA) festival. The God popularly called as Jhadeswar Baba , sits and rules the Jharsuguda city.

This famous temple is located in a woodland of Purunabasti and about 3 km away from Jharsuguda railway station. It is believed that the Shivalingam worshiped here is self-appeared. 

Early name of Jharsuguda was Jharguda. Jhadeswar temple is oldest temple of Jharsuguda. The ambience of Jhadeswar temple is charming and spiritual with many legends attached to it.
